How do you talk to your OB or midwife about your birth preferences?

Being educated and informed does not mean us against them. It means being able to communicate our desires and work as a team.

First, let them know that you fully trust them to help guide you through all options, and possible decisions that may need to be made.

Second, that of course the health of mom and baby are number one priority.

Then share with them your birth preferences. A simple document that highlights what is most important to you during your birth. Ask them if there is anything you should be aware of or that may conflict with what you have written down.

The hope is you walk away feeling confident that on your birthing day and you will feel part of a supportive team that helps welcome your baby into the world.

Two points I want to remind you of...

One, your choice of care provider is EVERYTHING. You must feel heard, respected and comfortable with them.

Secondly, proper education is what is going to help you figure out what is most important to you.
Get into a class so you can have a clear understanding of the birth process and all of your options. My first choice would be HypnoBirthing of course ❤️
